Unlike tape feeders that index components from carrier tape, the ASM SIPLACE Type III Vibratory Stick Feeder handles parts supplied in rigid component magazines. Controlled vibration advances the components along the feeder track toward the pickup position, making this unit useful for SMT lines processing tube-packaged components that cannot be loaded through conventional tape feeders.

The Type III module includes electronic control for the vibration-feeding process. Track arrangements vary with magazine width, including configurations for multiple narrower magazines or a single wider magazine. This flexibility makes the feeder relevant to mixed-component production, particularly when connectors and other components are supplied in tubes rather than reels. The feeder can also be replenished during placement, helping reduce interruptions associated with component replenishment.
