Product Overview

The Siemens SIPLACE X3 adds a third placement gantry to the original SIPLACE X Series. It is particularly relevant to established X-Series factories that need more placement capacity than an X2 but do not automatically need the four-gantry structure of an X4.

A three-C&P20 configuration is rated at up to 69,500 CPH under the original SIPLACE benchmark. The additional gantry can also be used for a different placement role rather than simply adding another high-speed head. For example, one head can extend the machine toward ICs, larger packages or special components while the other gantries continue handling higher-volume SMD placement.

From a used-equipment perspective, we would consider an X3 when the third gantry solves a real production problem: an X2 no longer reaches the required cycle time, the PCB needs another component-placement role, or an existing X3 must be replaced without changing the surrounding X-Series production setup.

Siemens SIPLACE X3 Specifications

ParameterDetails
ModelSiemens SIPLACE X3
Gantry ConfigurationThree independently configured placement gantries
Placement HeadsC&P20, C&P12, C&P6 and TwinHead combinations
Maximum IPC RatingUp to 62,200 CPH with three C&P20 heads
Maximum SIPLACE BenchmarkUp to 69,500 CPH with three C&P20 heads
Theoretical MaximumUp to 93,000 CPH under theoretical reference conditions
PCB Size50 × 50 mm to 450 × 535 mm standard single-conveyor reference; long-board configurations up to 610 × 535 mm
Component RangeFrom high-speed chip placement to fine-pitch, large and irregular components according to the installed heads
Feeder CapacityUp to 160 positions for 8 mm SIPLACE X feeder modules with X changeover tables
Conveyor ModeSingle conveyor or flexible dual conveyor

The 69,500 CPH benchmark applies to the three-C&P20 configuration. Mixed-head X3 machines have different reference outputs and should be evaluated according to the production role of all three gantries.

When a Used SIPLACE X3 Fits an Existing Line

The X3 often makes sense as a middle-capacity choice in an established X-Series factory. We would normally look at the production problem first and then decide whether the third gantry offers enough value to justify moving beyond an X2.

Production SituationHow the X3 Helps
An X2 no longer meets the target cycle timeThe third gantry adds another placement resource without moving directly to the four-gantry X4
The PCB needs both high-speed chips and a broader IC mixThree head positions provide more room to divide component groups between speed-focused and flexible heads
The factory already operates original X-Series equipmentAn X3 can preserve familiar feeder, programming and maintenance practices when the installed configuration is compatible
The required output is already achievable with three gantriesAn X4 may add unused machine capacity rather than meaningful line output

When two used X3 offers are close in price, we would give more weight to the three installed head types and how well they match the actual BOM than to small differences in age or cosmetic condition.

The SIPLACE X3 is most useful when the third gantry has a clear production job—either removing a capacity bottleneck or adding component flexibility that a two-gantry machine cannot provide efficiently.
