Product Overview

In mixed SMT production, the fastest placement head does not always produce the shortest board cycle. If medium-sized ICs repeatedly have to be moved to another machine because a high-speed small-component head cannot handle them, the extra placement stage adds line balancing, setup and scheduling work that can offset part of the speed advantage. We can provide used E by SIPLACE machines equipped with the CP12 head in different conveyor, component-table, feeder and software configurations, allowing the available machine to be matched to the actual PCB and BOM.

The CP12 is built around a different balance: enough speed for regular production, but a wider component range than a dedicated small-component configuration. Its 12-segment Collect & Place head is rated at up to 24,300 CPH and covers components from approximately 01005 to 18.7 × 18.7 mm, with a maximum published component height of about 7.5 mm. For industrial control, communications, consumer electronics and other mixed assemblies, this means more passive components and standard IC packages can remain on the same placement machine instead of being split across additional equipment.

For a mixed-production line, the value of the CP12 is not simply its 24,300 CPH rating; it is how much of the BOM can remain on the same machine. The E by SIPLACE platform supports up to 120 positions based on standard 8 mm feeder width when two component tables are installed, giving the machine enough material capacity to support a wider component mix. Removable component tables also allow the next setup to be prepared outside active production, which is useful for factories running frequent product changes or medium-volume mixed orders.

A used CP12 is especially practical for factories already operating E by SIPLACE equipment. Existing Smartfeeder E inventory, programming routines and technician familiarity may continue to have value when compatibility is confirmed, making capacity expansion or machine replacement easier than changing the complete placement platform. For a factory entering the platform for the first time, a correctly configured used CP12 can also reduce the capital commitment required to obtain mature mid-speed mixed-component capability.

The CP12 is best suited to production where small passive components and medium-sized IC packages both represent a meaningful share of the PCB. It is less suitable when almost every placement is a small component and maximum chip-placement output is the main bottleneck, or when the BOM contains many large, tall or heavy devices beyond the standard CP12 range. Published speed and accuracy figures are OEM references; actual used-machine performance depends on head condition, nozzle condition, vision calibration, feeder pickup, PCB program and the overall condition of the machine.

These are OEM reference specifications for an E by SIPLACE machine equipped with the CP12 head. Component tables, feeders, nozzles, conveyor equipment and the Long Board Option should be confirmed on the individual used machine. For 01005 production, published component range alone is not enough; nozzle setup, vision performance, feeder condition and stable pickup should be verified under powered-on operation.

The real choice between the CP12 and E by SIPLACE CP14 is not simply which head is faster. The buyer needs to decide whether the production line benefits more from higher small-component output or from keeping a wider range of components on the same machine.

This is where buyers often make the wrong comparison. A CP14 may look much stronger from the published CPH figure, but that advantage matters only when enough of the PCB falls within its component range. If a meaningful share of the BOM has to move to another placement stage, the CP12 can produce a better-balanced process by keeping more of the board on one machine.

There are also several used-equipment details worth checking before comparing prices. The 120-position figure describes platform feeder capacity, not 120 feeders automatically included with every machine. Component tables, Smartfeeder E units, nozzle packages and the Long Board Option may be included or quoted separately. Buyers should also confirm that the installed head is a standard CP12 rather than assuming it has the larger-component Pick & Place capability of a CP12/PP configuration.

For mixed production, the better CP12 is not necessarily the newest machine or the machine advertised with the most accessories. It is the unit whose CP12 head, feeder package, conveyor and software already match the products the factory intends to run. That reduces the amount of additional equipment and reconfiguration required before the machine can contribute useful production capacity.
